As high as 30% of adults are likely to have a toxic level of one or more heavy metals in their body such as mercury, lead, arsenic or cadmium. This can cause a very wide range of symptoms and chronic or progressive diseases.
There are several ways to test for metals in the body. It requires special study and training to assess and treat heavy metals toxicity correctly and safely, but many alternative practitioners do certain types of testing and may even perform some types of chelation therapy inappropriately.
